Who is The Little Caker?
The Little Caker is Local Dunedin Gal, Emily Jory.
She’s a sucker for all things sweet, picky when it comes to cake, but a lover for all things brownies and chocolate!!
What started as a way to make a few extra bucks during her studies soon turned into a passion that never went away.
The Little Caker brings you beautiful boutique cakes for every occasion. Although Emily has studied a Bachelor of Culinary Arts, and completed an Honors and Masters in [food] Design, when it comes to cake baking and decorating she is largely self-taught . Emily went from baking at home as a kid to observing the numerous local Dunedin chefs she worked with in cafes, fine dining establishments and restaurants over the years. She watched and admired how they created their dishes and made beautifully delicious and unique works of art on a plate. Through her studies she explored the art of fine dining, and patisserie. She came to believe that cooking was an expression of ones inner character and creativity, and went on to explore cooking as a medium for artistic expression. Through her studies she found Cake Decorating, and although it wasn’t quite the path of fine dining/patisserie she had originally intended on taking, it was much more fun and fulfilling!
Each cake is created with her clients in mind; she loves to bring your ideas to life and present you with these delicious works of art!
